Where it began

What began as a simple idea- to create beautiful, sustainable spaces where people can slow down and reconnect with nature- has grown into something truly special.

Nestled in the heart of the Cairngorms, Rothie Cabins is the result of a shared vision between Graeme and Louise Fisher, Rothiemurchus Estate, and the pioneering COP26 House from Beyond Zero Homes.

Blending Graeme’s hands-on craftmanship and creative eye with Louise’s natural warmth for hospitality, the couple have made their home in Rothiemurchus, a family-run estate committed to conservation and community. Here, thoughtful design and meaningful living come together in harmony with nature.

At the heart of this project is the COP26 House, a symbol of what’s possible when innovation meets sustainability. Originally built for the UN Climate Summit in Glasgow in 2021, it showcased low-carbon living and inspired a new way of thinking about how we live with the land. Today, it’s ethos now lives on in Rothie Cabins, offering a new model for sustainable tourism in Aviemore and the Cairngorms National Park.

This collaboration has created more than just a cabin!

Originally built as the COP26 House, rebuilt as Rothie Cabins, the building was constructed using low carbon materials and innovative design to exemplify how architecture can meet climate challenges without compromising comfort or style.

Nestled in the Cairngorms National Park, one of the UK’s most treasured national landscapes, we are deeply aware of our responsibility to protect and preserve our local environment. Rothie Cabins donate 0.5% of revenue to climate commitments.
